Hi Friends,

Many of you have been with me on this journey of shop owning, shopping travels, self-exploration and growth, love, and now the new house. It is so nice to get feedback about my posts!

We have been in our new home for almost eight months. You know I have always lived simply and except for beautiful things, I don’t NEED much. Andy is different, if something can be done better he’s going to make it better. I have to admit, every single thing that we have done and every gadget we have bought makes our lives easier and better. We have done a ton of work on the house, almost all of it ourselves. (I am the painter, he is the plumber and electrician, we build together).

Today we are starting the master bathroom and closet remodel. We talked many times about doing it ourselves, and I know we could, but decided to let a professional do it so we could keep working at our real jobs. It turned out our contractor could start right away. Now we have a million decisions to make immediately.

I have helped many clients through this process but this is my first time experiencing a remodel in my own home. We are lucky to have another full bath right outside the bedroom, so while it won’t be easy, we won’t be too put out. The designing is a different story. Andy is impulsive and can’t yet visualize the room, I am a consummate researcher and can see it in my head. I started planning it as I always do, on Pinterest. I went to my bathroom pinboard and looked for a common thread on my favorites. Then on my ‘specific to this house’ board I started pinning products and ideas. I made sure to change the notes to reflect what I liked or disliked about the image. We will save in some areas so we can splurge on the important things.

Most of the choices made in a remodel are there for a very long time, and any mistakes made will bother me every single time I walk in, so I will leave nothing to chance, no questions unanswered. Of course by mistakes I mean a decision that was not made by me and that I don’t agree with. If I make one I can live with it.

I will keep you updated, wish us luck!

Scarlett
