My friend Cayce of “the littlest bird” showed me that if you break open a sand dollar the vertebrae look like little birds. I am still fascinated by them. I am sure even Cayce thinks I am a dork now, but every shipment of sand dollars has some breakage, and I can’t bear to throw these away.
