It’s November and things are ramping up! (In a good way!)

Hello!

I hope you’re doing well. I’m writing this quickly, as Open Studios starts on Friday!!! It’s been a crazy few months. My art was accepted at a preview show for Hidden in the Hills at the Desert Foothills Gallery in Cave Creek, AZ. That was lovely enough but then I was asked to give a presentation about it! I’m not a fan of public speaking but I put on my big girl panties and did it. I hear I did a great job, although I thought I might pass out a few times while talking. The audience was great, I got a few laughs and the eager smiling listeners were a huge help. We’ve had great press for our artists, at least 4 newspapers singled us out, I think we have a really great group here. AND THEN, this morning I got a call from Sue, the PR guru for HITH. Fox News 10 is coming here to interview me for LIVE morning news!!! I have to buck up again, I am breathing and feeling fine about it. This has all been really good for this introvert. If you’re in the Phoenix metro area, it will air at 8:35 AM this Thursday.

I have been making so many different things for the show. It’s hard to know what folks will gravitate to. The charcuterie sets are probably my favorite to make, so I hope the sell out so I can make more! The nice thing about this six day show, is
1. It is at my house, so I have had much more time to curate
2. Every day at 5pm I can reassess and make changes.
3. If I am not too worn out, I can keep making to replace what has sold.
4. There are 4 days in between.
5. Every day is a fresh start!

MWSTW – Mushrooms will Save the World! I started making mushrooms, I do not know why. Now I know in the back of my mind I know this to be true. Also watch Fantastic Fungi  if you haven’t already. Anywho, they started to end up in my little treasure boxes. And I made a ton of free standing ones, and mini mushroom forests, etc. I promise to post lots of pics, and if they don’t sell out they will go into my online shop Dec 1.

I began making these rings, or hoops, or Moon Units (thank you, Sydney!). They can hang on the wall and you make put your own treasures in them. I’m having fun with glaze and getting some really lovely results!

Do you sense a theme here? These are my beach stones. Even when I forage in my yard for organic bits for my art, I feel a little guilty. Everything has it’s place. I like to leave a lot behind for the critters.

Here I am with my trays full of bits, playing until the right things go together. It actually takes a lot out of me, so I leave them and come back from time to time until I feel it’s good. Then I glue it all in.

I needed some press photos so the incredible Michelle Stitz came to visit and took them of me. I like to keep it real, so I didn’t get fancy or anything (why would I?)

Here is our awesome ad! I’d like to introduce you to my incredible guest artists:
Kristin Kleyer Mangum
Tracy Laasch
Greg Tomb
Meg Harper

That’s it for now, I just wanted to share with you really quickly. If you know anyone in the North Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Phoenix, Carefree area, please feel free to share this with them so they can visit the show!

November 18, 19 & 20 – 25, 26 & 27, 2022  10 am to 5 pm

There are 46 other studios with approximately 170 artists!

Love,

Scarlett

Oh hey, if you’re interested in watching all 7 terrifying (I was SO GOOD when I did it at home in front of the cats!) minutes of my presentation, enjoy! Tracy and Kristin (my guest artists) were also invited to speak. It was a fun event!
