Hello Friends,

I hope you are well, and doing okay in these rough times. As always, I’m doing what I can to help others while staying positive and appreciating all the good and the beauty in the world. Here in Carefree the weather is beginning to warm up and it’s so lovely! Today is about 85, all the doors and windows are open as they have been for months, it’s just divine.

Prickly Pear about to bloom!

I have three times big news!

Since I need to sell in order to keep creating, I’ll first tell you that my online shop is now open! My latest work is a series of hearts in porcelain, colored with watercolor. Some of them are imprinted with creosote (the smell of desert rain) branches from the yard, I may be biased but I think they’re incredible! They hang on the wall. I also have vases, trinket dishes and wee serving tools along with other goods I’m always making and adding. I am working on baubles for large wall hangings, which can be customized for wall space and colored with watercolor if white porcelain is not your preferred color.

Meandering Paths Studio

I’m super stoked to announce that I will be hosting open studios here at the house! Hidden in the Hills is put on by the Sonoran Arts League, which I am a member. I had to choose a name for the studio and Scarlet Fiona Reed Art and Design didn’t quite fit for the group of us so I’ve named it Meandering Paths Studio. I have four amazing guest artists joining me, we are working really hard to make it an epic six days, two weekends in November. Six months seems like a long time, but I’m going to need to build up an incredible amount of inventory. We’re all very active on Instagram and will do some heavy advertising. For those of you who have done and still do open studios, I would love to hear any advice you have.

Cat people: Lastly, we have a new family member! It’s been one year since we lost sweet Zoey and although Miles and Sophie are awesome, they seemed a bit bored. We totally scored and found the best little kitten ever! Her name is Chloe, she is a tortoiseshell and part Maine Coon like Sophie. I’ve always preferred older kittens, Chloe is only 3 months but she is such a good girl. She was isolated for one night, the next day she was playing with her new brother and sister. They watch over her and teach her and keep her in line, it’s so fun to see.

Did I tell you that I moved my mother to Arizona? My brothers and sister are still in California but she was cold, and missed me,  and COVID shut down all socializing where she lived. Now she’s got a lovely apartment in Mesa with a heated pool and hot tub and she is in heaven! They have card games and arts and crafts and one free meal a day. It gets a little bit hotter down there but she swears she’s ready for summer! 🙂

That’s all of my news for now. I’m going on my first Arizona hike tomorrow, unless you count my daily walks around the property. Wish me luck!
