Writings and Musings by Scarlett.

My boutique design agency and the online shop are all me. I am constantly exploring the world and discovering hidden design treasures. Inspiration comes from everywhere – flora and fauna, bees and trees, stars and sky, architecture, delicious textiles, old stone floors and wooden doors. Below are writings about my process, explorations, and my life experiences, going back to 2005.

You don’t have to join either to see my pictures, if you like something please call or email scarlett@saffronandgenevieve.com. I’ll be posting more...

Hello Friends, Do you have a loved one who is notoriously difficult to buy gifts for? I am one of those and can help. I shop for a living buying anything I do love (and can afford), I prefer one of a kind when I can, and I like to support small and local and made...

Hi, I was selling my wares on a fancy website for a while, this is the interview for it. I am much better thinking and writing out my own answers than being interviewed in person. Your connection with vintage? If you look at almost any tool or machinery from the late 19th century and earlier, you’ll see...

Not in the fall. The heat is too much to bear. Also, I can’t justify the costs for as little as I found this trip. Just so you have an idea – in case you’d like to go – the flight, truck rental, accommodations (not swanky), keeping my shop open at home and gas back...

Over the past eight years Saffron and Genevieve has evolved into exactly what I always wanted it to be. I just got back from the gift fair in New York where I had a fantastic time exploring the city. There were miles of offerings to wade through, but I have gotten good at spotting special and...

Saffron and Genevieve is an antiques store. I sell other items but mainly antiques. Antiques store is a general term, most dealers consider an antique to be an object of value over one hundred years old. If you’re into “antiques”, you probably have a preference of style, era, or maybe you are into collectibles, all of which...

I just got back from beautiful Massachusetts, the Brimfield antique show was pretty amazing. I had no idea what to expect, except for the fact that it is hectic. I had space on a container that is on a train to southern California as I write. Next week I will drive down and pick up my goods....

I think you all know by now that when I get a wild hair to do something, it’s pretty much going to happen. An idea gets into my head, actually it’s usually an idea that has been there, waiting in the wings for many many years, and when it is the right time it comes...

Hi, I’m back! That, my twelfth trip to the Texas antique fair, was the best one by far for buying. Yes, things were more expensive, there’s no getting around that. The internet, tv shows and social media has told us that our junk is worth more. Junk that I can do cool things with has...
